In Love With Lino
The lino we have chosen, from flooring manufacturer Forbo, is made in the UK using 100% renewable electricity and is carbon positive, with a carbon footprint of -0.25 kg CO2e per m2. Produced from linseed oil, extracted from the beautiful flax plant (linum usitatissimum) once widely grown for the UK’s linen industry, lino contains 97% natural raw materials, of which 72% are rapidly renewable (can be re-harvested within ten years) and is naturally compostable.
Due to Forbo’s excellent ‘Back to The Floor’ initiative, on site off-cuts and scrap produced during manufacture mean that our lino tops have a post-industrial recycled content of 27.5%.
Lino is durable, easy to clean, hygienic and naturally anti-static helping to prevent dust and dirt settling and sticking to its surface. A lino table top has a little ‘give’ to it, creating a natural, comfortable, welcoming surface that is a pleasure to touch, with one other important attribute; it won’t show fingerprints.
Lino surfaces can contribute to the acoustics and natural light sources of a space, the colours we offer have LRVs of between 6 and 35. Available in six colourways, choose from a palette of mellow colours; pebble, conifer, olive, burgundy, charcoal and smokey blue.
Lastly, but perhaps most importantly when considering workspace interiors, lino is a naturally low-emitting material and thus can help towards maintaining good indoor air quality. Despite its flexibility, it is phthalate free and completely non-toxic, supporting a healthy indoor environment. Our lino table tops can help contribute to credits under environmental assessment methods such as WELL, BREEAM, LEED and SKA Rating.
Lino has a very distinctive feel and aesthetic that embodies the very best use of natural materials and emanates superior quality. Lino table tops are available as a premium option on selected ranges within our collection.
